Polecat Thumper on an M1297 yeah!!!!!

« on: February 15, 2011, 01:48:07 PM »

Guess what arrived on my doorstep today.....

Yeah my latest project rocket. Polecat 10" Thumper, oh yeah baby....

I would like to personally thank Jack from What's Up Hobbies for his excellent service and how prompt he was in returning emails and helping me get this large rocket into Australia. Top job within 10 days of ordering my rocket was on my doorstep.

All parts were packaged superbly and you could not fault the quality of the rocket either. I even got a freebie or two which was a very nice surprise.

I guess its all up from here as I go through and keep you all updated on the build of this awesome rocket.
(goes off to do a happy dance)  dizcheesy dizgrin dizcool diztongue

will post some pics later

Expected launch date DOOMSDAY @ Dowerin 2011 - Sept 30th to Oct 3rd

The design has changed alot from the last time I was contemplating them before they went OOP, they are now in stock with a new design and dual deploy included for a total cost of AUD $1153.00 landed.

the old design had the chutes coming out of the mmt and nose cone and the electronics mounted into the side of the rocket, now there is a payload bay inside the rocket, making it more desirable and alot more space to deal with.

First up I will be keeping a copy of the fins on paper for any repairs that may be required during this rockets life. I will be building a fin can so I will be deviating away from the instructions a little. I will have to modify my original build project to include the new dual deploy design.

I think it is payback time so I will be moving the rocket into our bedroom and it can live next to our bed for a while until it cannot fit into the house. Wink

Very happy with the finish of the rocket too, I have read that the rockets sometimes are quite rough but overall it wasnt as bad as I was thinking. Nothing filler wont solve.

Colour Scheme hmmm well I have purple here and I have pink that I painted my samurai with but then I like the whole patriotic colours I can do so I have no idea.
