Great to see the sheer joy on all faces...how much fun is rocketry heh!!!
And relief...achieving L3...only by doing it do you realise that its 90% logistics and 10% build.

EMiR can we have some more details on the rocket design.
Its 4" diam right?
What about lengths, weights, motor, chutes, electronics etc.

16kft ++ ...thats pretty impressive!
And did i read that raven data right....a mach busting flight...damm I'm envious!

Goffa you should have a full description of the rocket in your emails.
But for the benifit of others;

TERRA Australis;

4" Minimum Diameter Carbon Fibre Rocket
3.15m Long
Gross Lift-Off Weight 17.2kg

Motor : HyperTEK 98mm M1000 (~10,000ns)

Onboard Electronics;
Primary Alt, Raven 70g 2 axis
Secondary Alt: Raven 150g 1 axis
GPS Tracking - Telemetrum RF/GPS Alt
Backup Tracking - Com-Spec RDF Beacon
On-board Camera

Flight Summary

Max Altitude 16,366 Feet AGL (17,634 feet ASL)
Max Velocity 908mph (1331.7333 ft/sec) (Mach 1.1929)
Max G at take off - 31G's

24" Tac-1 Drogue chute at apogee
24" TAC-1 Pilot chute at ~2000'
96" TAC-9A Main Chute at 1500'

Recovery was ~200m from the launch pad.

Formal Acknowledgements

First I'd like to Thank the Australian Rocketry Association for their continued support of Advanced Rocketry Queensland and it's members.
And for giving me the opportunity in doing a Cert 3 flight
I am proud to be apart of this truly Australian Rocketry Organisation!

I'd like to Thank Michael Lewer of the SE-QLD CASA dept, for compiling up the Part 101 for the flight windows to FL180
And a big thank you to Anthony Lawler and Graham Rodgers of the OAR for the approvals to FL180.
And another Big thank you to Graham Rodgers who organised an extention to the window for us on Sunday.

And a huge thanks to the guys and girls of Brisbane Tower/Flight operations, for clearing the airspace around the launch area, and for taking a little time to attempt to track the rocket for me.
big thanks to them, the guys and girls there were fantastic to deal with.

A huge thank you to my very loving and patient partner Nadia, for putting up with a messy house for the past few weeks.
and for the huge support in organising the Club shirts, accommodation and food for the weekend. (she is truly my better half)

A huge thank you to my parents (Graeme and Maree), who organised the launch trailer build, and especially to my Dad who twisted my arm to do this project in the first place.

A big thank you to Michael Baker (DragonFlight) for his many great ideas and inputs into the rocket, and for the time in helping build the rocket.

A big thank you to John (ChokedFlow) for his time in Machining all the alloy parts for me.

A big thank you to MickG for the excellent support over the weekend, and the advice and support leading up to and during the launch.

A big thank you to Sean and Phil for their inputs, ideas and support during this build.

Also A big thank you to Geoff, Maurice and the rest of the ARA crew for their support leading up to and after the launch, and for all the txt msgs over the weekend

A big thank you to Steve and Cassey for their support on the weekend

A huge thank you to Ben, Deb, Jakie, Glen, Malcom. for their continued support of Advanced Rocketry Queensland

This truly was a huge team effort and without the support of all involved, I highly doubt the launch would have been as successful as it was,

A HUGE THANK YOU to all who were involved....
