I also give the nod to Kevin, Frank, Carl, Des, and I will add our very own Nat and Phillip to that list. If every club had a Nat & Phillip, rocketry would be mainstream in this country. Thanks guys!

We havent done anything of significance to be on an honour roll yet slave but thanks for the mention

Maybe Paul Collier should be on an honour roll I believe that when rocketry was almost dead in this country he still made a website and ran a forum which got alot of the people who are now in clubs across Australia it has also been this same website that draws many people into rocketry every month. I dont think Paul has ever been thanked for it either nor has he ever asked for reimbursement to run the website etc etc.

The PARC website is a wealth of knowledge and many many hours of spare time has been used to make it one of the best rocketry sites around.

Quoted from SaltPeter
Are you getting all this down, Maurice?
Reading the above, I could put in some names but I have lost count.
Trevor and Shirley McIvor in Toowoomba started a church boys club in 1969, and for an activity they made and launched rockets.  To verify this check with Carl Melvey.  They started making nose cones from balsa because a friend had an electric drill.  Yes, electric!
Trevor is a retired electrician and put together the launch gear and ran 4 launches per year until the early 90's.
Des Bromilow used to come up to our launches from Brisbane, but I heard he went to the pilbara.  Then there was a cyclone, and no-one has heard of him since.  (Ok, he sent me an email to say he was ok.)
Dean Hawthorn of ##### helped us get the Manual of Procedures right.  He was the president of ##### at the time - 2005-2006.
Our Toowoomba club would not be launching rockets if not for the MAAA secretary Kevin Dodd and the then MAAQ President Jeff Phillips insisting on me making a presentation to the MAAA national council to put the case for "Space Modelling" to be covered by MAAA insurance and rules.  The deciding factor was all the people who have contributed to safe rocketry in Australia for the past 40 years.

Whats wrong Saltpeter, Dont you think I can read

Have a couple more names to add to the list of ARA members who have done some Work to forward hobby rocketry in Australia

(1) Andrew Eltoboji

For his exceptional work with our new HPR document. Thankyou Andrew

(2) David Drane

For his hard work in getting our new SARA section up and running. Thankyou David

Had hoped to put Scott Pollocks name here for doing the ARA sporting code, however for reasons too lenthy to explain he was unable to complete this work It is however appropreiate to give him a mention as he at least gave it a go! Thanks Scott

It is important that we continue to recognise the volunteer  work  done by all these people so others know their contrubution to forwarding hobby rocketry in Australia!

Have a couple more names!

(1) Greg Kopp & family for their excellent work in getting our new Spalding section up and running. Having personally seen their efforts which know involves substantial work warrents their inclusion.

(2) Peter Briggs, his assistance with our new blue book is invaluable! Having people with these excellent skills can only compliment our association

With the ARA now having members in every state and Territory except for 2 the future for hobby rocketry in Australia is looking very possitive!

Geez, some people have short memories.
What about Tom Matley and Mike Limpus who did nearly all the face to face work with Dawn Trading  and Dangerous goods in NSW. Without those guys, you wouldn't be buying HPR motors.

Thanks for that input ##. Tom Matley is already mentioned in the above posts! Have no knowledge of Mike Limpus but certainly if he warrents mention in this thread so be it.

The purpose of this thread is to aknowledge the contrubution people have made into the development of hobby rocketry in Australia through volunteer work! Perhaps your name should be mentioned also? Were you an ARA member?

It appears you have been around for a while ## and is likely old school as some of us are. Have concluded you were an ARA member.

Out of interest ## Tom Matley was one of the original AARC 16 founding members. All these members are current or former ARA members such as yourself. Will see if you recognise any names of some?;

Simon Dolling
Graham Nicholls
Michael Nicholls
Timothy Sutton
Matthew Swan

In getting back to the purpose of this thread would like to add some more people.

John Flint
David Cummings
Nev Blyth
Scott Pollock
Garrick Updegrove
Darren Moore

These people have contributed to the ARA in volunteer time and work and we should recognise this. Thankyou all!

Had quite a bit to do with him when he was working on hybrids. He came to Perth once and we caught up. Top bloke.

Nice guy, and bloody smart!. Greenkeeper/rocket scientist is an unusual combination.
I'm working with him at the minute in his capacity as an ASRI project manager.
Haven't had the pleasure of meeting the others..
