The ARA are currently looking for members from QLD to start their own section. Membership costs are $40 Juniors, $80 Adults and $110 for Family (2x2). All you need is 5 ARA members with the minimum requirement being 2 Seniors and the other 3 can be Senior or Junior members
TARMAC Model Aero club is launching again for the youth club March 14th 2009 at 1:30. There is one ARA member here, myself. There are 5 Tarmac members doing rocketry. On launch days we have about 100 people. We have 21 rockets booked in and more to come friday night for Saturday. All looks good if Hamish does not park itself over the field.
In Saltpeters defence ICBM the amount of work Saltpeter does with regards to helping others with rocketry would likely prohibt him from starting a section! Lets hope they dont get blown away over there for their up coming launch!
Has anyone ever heard of the paperwork reduction act?

As of now any ARA members who wish to fly HPR in QLD may do so you just need the appropriate licence and part of that licence is a medical check
For more information please feel free to contact the Australian Rocketry Association INC
The best thing about the Australian Rocketry Association INC is you dont need to join a overseas club to fly High Power Rockets one simple cheap fee NOT two and your away

yeah my thoughts too dazza but thats whats in place so you gotta work with it.
Also as members enter into the HPR side you can be supervised by a licence holder, they were not too keen once say certified you kept flying under someone else licence so you would have to get your own licence.

To which licence are you referring too? ARA L2/3 or a DME Licence? In which case your loosely written statement refers to a DME Licence wouldn't be correct for all ARA members, and would only require one person to hold such licence. (for storage and transport)
If you're referring to a ARA L2/3 for launching HPR in QLD.
What kind of medical check? a phyc Analyse? and who will conduct that, and are they qualified in the areas of rocketry? And why is this only for QLD? And could you please demonstrate how ARA has worked with the AMA on the framework for such an evaluation?
Please direct me to the ARA rules and regs, outlining the above.
If your referring to the DME Licence, then that’s a given.

I would like to ask also, If ARA has made any in roads to DME, as far Licensing for propellants? ether to make it easier to obtain, or a reclassification for rocketry?
When and how was this passed? 29th June 2009 via a submission to DME Qld after a phone conversation and several emails of ARA procedures and safety codes were approved allowing ARA to fly HPR
This is all members who join ARA in QLD for the purpose of launching HPR? As per DME instructions

In QLD you require a DME licence for motors being flown over 62.5g which requires a medical check for the licence holder this may be found on the DME site. One member can start with the licence and anyone "training" ( put in place by another club not us) does not require the licence however after a period of time when certified the ARA member will require the licence to fly HPR, I questioned this and talked about having one licence for the entire club but until a formal section was in QLD it was not the ARA's job to waste time trying to change rules and regs. Now if QLD members want the ARA to work with DME to make it easier we can now do so.
The licence applies to any motors over 62.5g this is from DME.

The medical check is not ARA policy as I personally think its a joke to have a medical check to fly HPR and was never put in place by the ARA this is DME guidelines as the HPR licence is a standard permit for other explosives it was a quickfix that QLD DME and whomever got the HPR motors authorised used. In QLD only up to L had been authorised so L1 and L2 last time I checked, this may have changed I will be updating DME next week about the section now operating in QLD.

In brief any procedures/ processes for HPR in QLD was not done by the ARA it was done by another club and because these processes were already in place this was what we needed to follow to start with. Obviously if QLD ARA members have other ideas then we will explore these to make flying HPR in QLD easier and with less restrictions.
I can send you the copy of the original email from DME just pm me your email address.
Originally it was in place that only Tripoli members could fly HPR in QLD, DME did not know that there were other rocketry clubs in Australia and were a little naive, one phone call changed this to allow the ARA members to fly HPR in QLD.
