Finally finished my LPR version of the mini magg, appropriately named the mini mini magg. It's roughly a third of the actual size.

Profile view

Comparative size. Anyone ever made a beer bottle rocket? If you need empties I can supply plenty

Stats:

Total length: 34cm
Body tube: 22cm
Nose cone: 12cm
Diameter: 5.4cm
Mass: 100grams
Motor mount: 24mm

It's made for D motors but I've built a "converter" to launch this off B's and C's too. The rocket weighs 100 grams so it will be 125 with a C motor. The manufacturer's recommendation is to only launch 113 grams on an A/B/C motor... but I think it should be ok (I plan to perform a trial launch ALONE to make sure). If anyone has experienced a potentially dangerous situation occur after launching a rocket with a similar mass... please let me know!

Now I just need this wind to bugger off (gusts currently above 50km/h and averaging above 20km/h over the 7-day forecast).

awesome flight on a D-motor until the ejection charge fired!

I used (what I thought was) plenty of wadding however the parachute still managed to get singed, ripped and failed. End result was one snapped fin which is a bit of a bummer. I think I need to get hold of some "dog barf" and really make sure of things... it clearly pays to use plenty of wadding. Some work to do on that fin!

Still, that was my first D12 and it was awesome!

Excellent launch Mr F.   What delay was the D12?

Sorry, it was a D12-5. Do you reckon it blew too early?

Sorry, I couldn't resist. How rude

I do wish I had a copy of RockSim, though, to know whether I should've gone with a 7 second delay (if that's what you're suggesting). It's on the club's wishlist but we're still in fundraising mode to get hold of it.

haha, good point fuzball... yeah well I guess it's going to be a good learning experience - i've never tried to replace a fin before. It's tempting to try and glue the crack back together to get another flight out of it (seeing how it hasn't snapped comlpetely) but I'm sure that decision would come back to haunt me.

I use this to help determine what delay to use:

Nice rocket build Mr F, until I saw the second pic next to the beer bottle it looked like the full scale version. Shame about the fin. I want one of these now too.

I will get wolf to chuck in a bag of barf with the goodies hes sending over to you if that helps.
