just wanted to post a couple of quick pix as we finally finished off the estes "interceptor e" kindly donated to the club by Dawn Trading (thanks guys)

crazy kit... very technical build for a MPR some of those fins were 6-pieces   very challenging and time consuming but it's turned out pretty well.

i thought the hardest part was behind me once the fins were on but, good lord, those water slide decals are a massive pain in the a$#e! actually, once i got the hang of it, they were ok, but i just about chucked the lot out in disgust when i first started. they do add a very nice touch,  once on, very slick look.

i've got a pack of E18 to get this off the ground... if it all goes well i'll grab some Fs to get it right up there!

yeah... i was looking at the skinny little estes motor retainer thinking it wouldn't take much to lose a case... someone once mentioned that a zipstrip wrapped around the kink of the motor hook and the nozzle can add a bit more safety.

epoxy was used throughout as per instructions. I'm with you, though... there is so much surface area on those fins that the high impulse motors will really test them out... it's all part of the fun i guess!!!

Does this kit take the Estes E9 motor Mr F?

Has anyone ever heard of the paperwork reduction act?

yeah it's the upscaled version that takes an E9 but i'm skipping that and chucking an E18 in it instead... no guts no glory i just hope i can find all the pieces when it's finished

if the e18 goes ok i might try with an F later.

actually, we had a convo about this last year... i can't remember the thread and not bothered to search it out but on the Apogee website they recommend not using an E9 as RockSim reckons it won't be moving fast enough by the end of the rail on that motor. On a windy day that could be an issue.

it's a very controversial claim as this kit is recommended by Estes as taking an E9 but Apogee disagree

As a suggestion Mr F if you think it can handle an F these new F35s as shown in the pictures below should go well with that kit. They are the same physical size as an Estes E. Believe Greg at Spalding welcome mart may have some including casings.

wow i didn't realise they'd released a new casing size... we need to update the education section of the website!

hmmm... i wonder if they'll release any other motor types for that case? it's a little strange there's only one option, the F35, no other case I can think of has only one option for any particular size of case.

haha, checking the specs of that motor, it definitely has a little extra kick over the other motors in 24mm.
