First launch date for 2010 has been allocated. The date is proposed as 12/3 or Friday of Week 7 if you follow the school calendar.

Time: After 4pm... first launch will probably be around 4.30pm
Location: Wudinna Town Oval

As always, this launch will go ahead provided the weather is favourable. If wind speeds get anywhere near 32km/h the launch will be postponed until further notice.

As a suggestion Mr F with summer launching and knowing how our weather patterns are it could be advisable to tell people launching may not proceed till after 6pm. This is usually the time when wind speeds drop off to nearly nothing depending on the weather forcast.

Has anyone ever heard of the paperwork reduction act?

yeah, good point although it's been bloody windy regardless of the time of day lately   we'll be launching at 2am, the ways it's been going the last week or two...

just using today as an example: the windspeed was 20km/h or above from 9.30am till 9.30pm and the top windspeed was actually at 6.30pm & 7.30pm!!!

20 Km/h is not too bad for heavy rockets. Lots of long walks for light models

1st launch for the year has been pushed forwards by a week... looks like i forgot to check my calendar i'll be away on a teaching conference on the 12th

new date is now the 19th of March

if i keep this up we won't even need to bother with the fire permit from the CFS as it will be into april!

Parents/community please note: this is the same day as our school's Track'n'Field competition. Rockets will begin launching some time after 4.30pm depending on the wind conditions (they need to be less than 32km/h).

launch day went off without a hitch... wind behaved nicely! i reckon we must have launched nearly 20 LPRs today which was a fairly big effort for our small club.

pix to follow in the next few days.

oops! sorry, missed this post.

yeah, got a few to upload. They're on the school computer and it's school holidays so I haven't had access to them... only one day to go so I daresay you'll see them soon.
